Wayne Community College Organizational Charts (Wayne Community College, 2016b):

The mission of Wayne Community College is to "meet the educational, training, and cultural needs of the communities it serves" (Wayne Community College, 2016a).  The college strives to do this by funding the following positions:  Coordinator of Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Programs/Career Counselor, WIOA Youth Program Coordinator/Career Advisor, Computer-Based Learning Specialist, Counselor/Transition Coach, Tutors, Success Coaches, High School Liaison, Library Specialist and Library Technician, Counselors, Veterans Affairs, Financial Aid, and Education Support Technician.

 

The institution's core values include:  communication, compassion, diversity, excellence, integrity, leadership, learning, service, stewardship, teamwork, and unity.  The values of communication, leadership, stewardship, teamwork, and unity are exemplified by various vertical and horizontal positions, including those of coordinators and directors, in Wayne Community College's organizational charts.

• Wayne Community College consists of 136 Full-Time and 381 Part-Time faculty (National Center for Education Statistics, 2016).

• For both Full-Time and Part-Time curriculum instructors at Wayne Community College, the following is required:  Master's degree in position field or Master's degree with 18 graduate semester hours in position field (Wayne Community College, 2016c).
• Additionally, for both Full-Time and Part-Time curriculum instructors, the following is preferred:  community college or post-secondary teaching experience in the same subject and for 1 to 3 years; online teaching experience and use of technology; excellent oral and written communication skills.  Communication was identified by the college as its top core value (Wayne Community College, 2016a).
• One current Part-Time curriculum description reads "Applicant must be a self-starter, team player, and possess the ability to work well with others" (Wayne Community College, 2016c).  Teamwork and unity are two of the college's identified core values (Wayne Community College, 2016a).
• For both Full-Time and Part-Time vocational-technical (voc-tech) instructors, the following is required:  Associate's degree in the position field; current, hands-on experience in the position field; excellent oral and written skills; be a self-starter and team player (Wayne Community College, 2016c).
• Additionally, for both Full-Time and Part-Time voc-tech instructors, the following is preferred:  job-specific certifications; at least 1 year experience teaching in position field at the post-secondary level; Bachelor's degree (Wayne Community College, 2016c).
• Most current positions list the pay rate and salary information as "commensurate with education and experience" (Wayne Community College, 2016c), however, the position for Full-Time, 9 month, Foreign Language Instructor is listed as starting between $42 and $45K.

Wayne Community College Budget Information:

"For FY 2013-14, a total of $9 million will be allocated to colleges based on their performance on six of the eight [performance] measures. (Basic Skills student progress and GED attainment will not be used in FY 2013-14 allocations.) In FY 2014-15, a total of $24 million will be allocated to colleges based on their performance on the eight measures" ("Performance Funding," 2016).

Total Performance-Based Funding for Fiscal Year 2014-15 at Wayne Community College was $145,192.  This consisted of monies totaling $91,247 from students meeting six performance measures and monies totaling $53,945 from Basic Skills students meeting two performance measures.

Basic Skills Student Performance and First Year Progress comprised more than half of the number of successful students.  However, in viewing the funding these successful students generated, categories were more closer in size as the amounts per successful student varied by category.
